Farm Credit Council supports the University of Arkansas Indigenous Food and Agriculture Initiative’s annual leadership summit for Native youth ages 18-23. The summit focuses on business planning, risk management, marketing and leadership development.

“For the past 11 years, the Native Youth in Food Agriculture Leadership Summit has been the must-attend event for Tribal youth interested in food, agriculture, law and policy, health, business development, and more,” said IFAI’s Executive Director, Carly Griffith Hotvedt (Cherokee Nation). “IFAI’s Youth Summit equips attendees with the tools they need to succeed in agriculture and beyond. Past participants have established careers in Tribal agriculture, are leading organizations, operating successful agribusinesses, and so much more.”

The Native Youth in Food and Agriculture Leadership Summit provides Tribal youth a space to explore, have fun, and dive into the rich and vibrant cultures Tribal food and agriculture represents.

Agricultural policy and production areas include agricultural business and finance, land stewardship and conservation, agricultural law and policy, nutrition and health, and animal science.

The week includes opportunities to tour Tribal agricultural operations, interface with other youth and industry professionals, learn from renowned Native chefs, and build life-long connections. The week culminates with participants presenting their capstone projects, allowing them to apply their knowledge to develop real-world solutions.

This event is open to American Indian, Alaska Native, and Native Hawaiian youth ages 18-24, including recently graduated high school seniors. All travel and lodging expenses are covered for accepted applicants.

Applications are closed at this time.
